Ideas worth spreading

Does TED inspire?

TED.com gives everyone on-demand access to the world's most inspiring voices. It is time to see who got inspired and hear their stories.

Have you ever watched a TEDtalk? And, did it change anything?
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It initiated from the belief in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. Idealistic and romantic nonsense, or does it really have an effect on people?
One thing is for sure: TED grew out to be a world-wide phenomenon. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment and Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader, bringing together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes or less. More than 1000 TEDtalks are now available online, with more added each week, attracting a global audience in the millions. Does this free knowledge from the world's most inspired thinkers change people’s lives? Do they inspire people who, in their turn, come up with ideas worth spreading?

Teachers, lectors and citizens of Groningen will show how and why TED inspired them. The event will be hosted by Melissa Oudshoorn-Fuller, organizer of TEDxHanzeUniversity. Speakers will have, TED style, a maximum of 18 minutes to tell their stories and show video fragments of the TEDtalks that inspired them.

This event leads up to the first TEDx in Groningen: TEDxHanzeUniversity which will be held one week later, on the 3rd of October.  More information
