Soundwalk Groningen

What does everyday life sound like? The rustling of leaves, neighbours talking, the heavy bass of house music drifting from an open window: sound is more than background noise. It plays a fundamental role in how we feel at home in a place, how we make sense of our surroundings, and how we connect with one another. The practice based research project Klinkt als Noord aims to better understand the diversity of soundscapes in the Northern Netherlands.

Choir conductor and composer Sigutė Žurauskaitė will guide you through Groningen, inviting you to listen more closely to the city's soundscape. Together you will map out your environment by listening; a city in sound.

In collaboration with Klinkt als Noord 

Sigutė Žurauskaitė is a Lithuanian choir conductor, composer, and workshop leader. She also works at the Prins Claus Conservatorium as a teacher, producer, and project manager for the research project Klinkt als Noord. At the heart of her work is the belief that music can connect people and create spaces where everyone feels comfortable, safe, and free to express themselves.
