Requiem for an American Dream

Kelly Nyks

In the new documentary 'Requiem for the American Dream' iconic intellectual Noam Chomsky discusses how the concentration of wealth and power among a small elite has polarized American society and brought about the decline of the middle class.
Filmmaker Kelly Nyks lays bare the social and political mechanisms responsible for the historically unprecedented concentration of wealth and power into the hands of a very few. Noam Chomsky skewers the fundamental tenets of neoliberalism and casts a clear, cold, patient eye on the economic facts of life. Profoundly personal and thought provoking, Chomsky provides penetrating insight into what may well be the lasting legacy of our time – the death of the middle class, and swan song of functioning democracy. A potent reminder that power ultimately rests in the hands of the governed.

On this evening the first 20 minutes of the the documentary 'Requiem for the American Dream' will be shown, followed by discussion chaired by Naomi O’Leary and with:

Kelly Nyks, an award-winning writer/director of narrative and documentary films. He wrote, directed and produced 'Requiem for the American Dream' and co-created and co-edited the book adaptation with Chomsky, now a NYTimes Bestseller.
